On behalf of the children, governors and all staff, both teaching and non-teaching, I am very pleased to welcome you to Thornton Primary School's website.

Thornton Primary School, or Burn Naze Council School as it was known, was formally opened on the 7th September 1914 and it has continued to offer primary education to children aged 4 to 11 years continuously since that date.

We believe that education is a shared experience between the home, the parents and the school itself. We pride ourselves on being a caring school; all the staff work extremely hard and there is a happy atmosphere in all classrooms. We strive for the highest possible standards of behaviour and all round achievement in order to prepare each child for a successful adult life. We believe your child's development can only be assured if there is a close co-operation, mutual understanding and trust between home and school.

We hope that the addition of this website to our school will strengthen this bond and give you an added insight into the education, activities and progress of your child whilst at Thornton Primary School.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
