Pre-School

In January 2019, we opened our doors to pre-school aged children. Those children who join our Pre-School and then move onto school in Reception, enjoy a seamless transition and as a result, make fantastic progress both socially and academically.

Any child who has turned 3 during the previous school term can join our Pre-School. All parents/carers of 3 year old Pre-School aged children are entitled to 15 hours free child care each week. Some families will be entitled to 30 hours free child care. Please follow the link to check your eligibility: https://www3.lancashire.gov.uk/corporate/web/?siteid=2979&pageid=47605&e=e

All of our Pre-School children are in the EYFS setting with the Reception aged children. This means they all have access to a qualified teacher which ensures they make accelerated academic progress as well as developing socially and emotionally. Any child who attends Pre-School on Wednesday afternoons will also have the chance to take part in learning in our award winning Forest School.

For further details, please click the prospectus at the top of the page. This will provide you with additional information about how the Pre-School operates. Alternatively, you can make an appointment to visit the Pre-School by contacting the school office on 01253 821128 or emailing bursar@thorntonprimary.lancs.sch.uk
